1. 12 months study consists of 960 hours classroom instruction and skills lab and 400 hours on-the job training in hospital settings. Completion on this program can be qualified to work as CSS Technician II.
2. 24 months study that consists of 1200 hours classroom instruction and skills lab and 500 hours On-the job training in hospital settings. Completion on this program can be qualified to work as CSS Technician I.
This course is designed to introduce the student to work in a healthcare setting with emphasis based on requirements and competencies to be successful as an entry-level to Central Sterile Supply Technician. Course content includes, but are not limited to, identifying and communicating with members of the surgical operating team, describing regulations and standard expectations, promoting safety within the workplace, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, infection control procedures, sterilization processes, decontamination procedures, and a basic understanding of the transmission of disease. Student competency includes collecting, transporting, cleaning and decontamination of used items, inspecting, packing and sterilization of unsoiled items and storing, distributing and conducting inventory to all processed items.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be eligible to sit for the International certification examination through IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management) but payment of 150$ for examination will be shoulder by the student. (Optional)
